Steel, Magic and a Prototype: Malk's First Playable Build

The first prototype tested more than separate ideas: it tested how movement, combat, quests, and interface worked together.

Concept artwork — not gameplay

The first version that could be played

Malk's first internal playable build was completed on 1 May 2026. The prototype included movement, combat, magic, enemies, a location, interface elements, and several quests.

Not a public demo

This build was created for internal evaluation rather than as a demonstration for players. It made it possible to experience a complete gameplay loop and assess how steel, magic, exploration, and quests felt inside the same project.

Confirming the chosen direction

The prototype's main result was confirmation that the team could create a product at the intended level of quality within a reasonable timeframe. Considerably more work remained, but Malk was no longer only a collection of separate assumptions: its foundation could now be played and evaluated directly.

The prototype's purpose was to prove that separate ideas could already work together as one game.
